We are interested in transcription and epigenetic mechanisms and their role in mediating the response to the environment.

Research

Organisms face a variety of threats from their environment and must mount appropriate responses to ensure survival. My lab focuses on transcription and epigenetic changes that occur in response to challenge with the goal of understanding how these mechanisms contribute to adaptation and future responses. Our lab leverages unique advantages of the budding yeast and fruit fly system and pairs them with high-throughput and targeted genetic, molecular and biochemical techniques to tackle this question.

Teaching

As a teacher and mentor, my job is to guide students through acquiring foundational knowledge and developing learning and thinking skills. I believe that a supportive environment is key to ensure students flourish.
