“The Biology Department is packed with top-notch scientists and you'll get even more out of your coursework if you couple it with hands-on experience in science.. The summers I spent at the Queen's University Biological Station were some of the most formative and enjoyable experiences of my life -- an incredible facility for teaching and research! My advice for current students would be to try to get involved in a research lab as early as possible. I am currently pursuing a landscape genomic project on a bird called the white-tailed ptarmigan, which is vulnerable to climate change. I am also working as a freelance science writer, a pursuit that was born out of an opportunity I had to work with National Geographic.”
