We study the molecular mechanisms that regulate immune signaling in plants.
Research
The plant immune system is multi-faceted and composed of many different classes of proteins. The aim of our work is to find out how key immune proteins work at the molecular level, how they are activated and repressed, and how they influence normal growth and development. We study immunity and immune homeostasis in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and use a combination of methods including genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology.
Teaching
I approach teaching with the same enthusiasm as I approach research. I tend to emphasize first principles and encourage independent and critical thinking through literature assignments and lab projects.
