Professor of Fisheries & Conservation
“Conservation and Sustainable Use of Freshwater Fisheries”
Research: The vast majority of my research is related to the conservation and sustainable use of freshwater fisheries in Canada. Most of this research involves studies on wild fish populations that are targets of recreational fisheries. Another important area of my research is to develop better approaches for inland aquaculture in recirculation systems.
Teaching: I teach a lecture course in Fisheries Biology to a large class of third and fourth year Biology students. This is an introductory course that shows students that Fisheries Biology is an applied area where they can potentially use their training in biology. I also teach a course in Fisheries Techniques that provides students with many of the current “hands-on” techniques used in fisheries work.
Course topics: Fisheries Biology
